Singer Shalmali Kholgade, known for her breakout song "Pareshaan" in the 2012 film Ishaqzaade, recently performed at a private concert in Bengaluru. In an exclusive interview with Bangalore Times, she expressed her love for performing live in front of audiences over recording in a studio. Kholgade emphasized the importance of collaboration in music, highlighting the talent and teamwork that goes into shaping a show. She shared her approach of creating a seamless experience for the audience, incorporating choreography and visuals into her performances.

Regarding social media, Kholgade mentioned her preference for maintaining a balance by not oversharing personal opinions or issues, focusing instead on music, art, and positivity. She also reflected on the opportunities that led to her success, acknowledging Amit Trivedi for giving her the chance to enter the Bollywood music industry with "Pareshaan," which catapulted her playback singing career. Kholgade expressed her gratitude for the support and opportunities that have contributed to her journey in the music industry. My independent music project holds a special place in my heart, like a cherished creation. Prior to focusing on this endeavor, I was staying busy with various activities such as performing with my college band and in clubs, as well as being involved in a Latvian cabaret. I was balancing live shows with recording jingles, all the while holding onto my passion for music and my desire to pursue it. In the words of my dad, who I affectionately call baba, he emphasized the valuable life lessons gained through travel. He encouraged me to explore the world, engage with different people, ask questions, and nurture my curiosity. I am grateful for the opportunities to immerse myself in these experiences while pursuing my musical aspirations. Music has always been my calling, and I am drawn to all aspects of the creative process, not just singing. I embrace the tasks leading up to the final product as an integral part of my musical expression. This whole journey feels like an extension of my soul and brings me immense joy. As an artist, Shalmali Kholgade, I view artificial intelligence with a sense of unease. Recently, I encountered a peculiar incident involving the release of a song titled "Tu Hai," a collaboration with Nikhil D’Souza. To my surprise, another track called "Tu Hi Tu Hai" appeared on a streaming platform the following day crediting me as the female singer, despite my not recording such a song. It seemed like an AI-generated creation possibly designed to manipulate my song's streaming numbers, a disconcerting experience to say the least.
